Architectural Profiles Limited (APL), one of New Zealand’s largest aluminium window and door suppliers, are building a new 50,000m2 state of the art production facility near Cambridge, comprising 47,000m2 of factory plus 3,000m2 office.
The new facility will target a 5 Greenstar rating, incorporating a number of environmentally sustainable and energy efficient initiatives not normally seen in an industrial facility.
Mike’s involvement has included programming and design management, being the primary liaison point between the contractor and client, and integration of the plant with that of the building design. Mike is also responsible for the management of the building consenting process across multiple consents and amendments.
The 5 Greenstar target created numerous design challenges with a building of this magnitude, requiring careful strategy and management of the team to ensure compliance.
